IU Debate returned to some travel tournaments in the Spring of 2022 with a mixture of online competitions throughout the season. 2022-2023 will include more travel tournaments starting with Northwestern in September.

The 2022-2023 topic asks whether the US should increase the rights and duties of nature, animals, and artificial intelligence. Learn more about the rights of nature movement, the legal rights of personhood for non-human entitites, and the advancements of artificial intelligence by joining us today!

If you are an IU student and you have extensive high school experience and you are ready to research this year's topic, reach out to the director of debate directly at (Brdelong@iu.edu) and we will setup a time to discuss your immediate inclusion in debate program activities.

Who should join? The team's doors are open to all who are interested. We have students who start as novices (no experience) and turn into varsity debate team members. We have students who have Public Forum, Lincoln Douglas, Congressional debate, and Policy Debate experience. We have graduate students who competed in policy and parli and more... If your passion is in debate and being part of a growing and competitive program we want you!
